Two of a Kind

(Proverbs 18:9)
“He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.”

This statement is very meaningful. In Hebrew, the term waster actually refers to a master of destruction who actively and intentionally seeks to ruin things. We usually don’t think of ourselves as destroyers, but the scripture reminds us that being slack or careless in our work is no different from being a destroyer. The results of both are the same, as both will eventually mess things up.

Regardless of whether we are stay-at-home parents, students, or working professionals, everyone has their own station in life. If we do not put our hearts into our duties and merely go through the motions, we are actually engaging in a form of destruction. The Bible teaches us to be diligent and not to be lazy. Therefore, we must learn to be faithful in our positions and fulfill our responsibilities well.
