Do you desire stability or chaos?

(Proverbs 15:6)
“In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble. “

This presents a very interesting contrast. The so-called righteous refers to those who fear God and live according to His will, whereas the wicked are quite the opposite. In the original context of this scripture, the word for treasure actually encompasses the meanings of stability and security. This does not necessarily refer solely to material wealth; a person who fears God possesses a deeper internal stability, peace, and joy, which can even include material provision.

In comparison, although the wicked may gain revenue, the original meaning of this gain actually implies a sense of agitation or disturbance. This means that even if they acquire benefits, their lives often remain in a state of instability and turmoil.

This applies not only to the end result but also to the methods by which they obtain their gains. The righteous earn wealth through integrity and proper means, while the wicked operate as if fishing in troubled waters; whether in the process or the outcome, their lives are filled with chaos. Therefore, Proverbs provides us with a profound warning. We all hope for a life that is steady, secure, and peaceful, rather than possessing many things yet living every day amidst confusion and strife. We should learn to fear God and do what is right in His eyes.
